Today, we recognize National Former Prisoner of War (POW) Recognition Day, honoring the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of American service members who endured captivity in service to our country.
This day is also recognized as an official US flag-flying holiday. The American flag should be displayed from sunrise to sunset as a sign of respect for those who faced unimaginable hardship.
