🐵🤎 Monkey Update 🤎🐵

We wanted to share a quick update on our sweet girl.

Monkey has been doing very well and continues to make progress every day. Her medications have been helping, she’s staying comfortable, and she’s been receiving lots of love while we count down to surgery.

Unfortunately, our veterinarian had an unexpected scheduling conflict, so Monkey’s procedure has been postponed. While we’re disappointed to wait a little longer, we’re grateful that she’s stable enough for the delay and continuing to do well in the meantime. 🐾

We also want to take a moment to thank every single person who donated toward Monkey’s care. Because of your generosity, we were able to fully fund her upcoming surgery and even purchase much-needed microchips after running completely out.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of Monkey’s surgery will remain dedicated to rescue efforts and will go directly toward veterinary bills, medications, vaccines, microchips, and other lifesaving supplies needed for the cats and kittens in our care.

There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of all the different babies who have passed on and joined Aurora's Angels.

Two cardinals are facing each other

Grief is like that —

the smallest-looking thing

that two people can stand beside for years.
They face each other across it

without looking away.
That is the whole of it, really —

not conquering, not finishing,

just two warm bodies facing what is between them

day after day, neither one turning aside.
Day after day.
I have learned to stand beside it.

Not over it. Not past it.

The feather stays where it fell

and I have learned the shape of the standing.
The two cardinals breathe.

The gray-white air around them holds still.

🐾 New Kittens Have Arrived at the Café! 🐾

Yesterday was a big day for 7️⃣ of our kittens as they officially moved into purejoycatcafe! 🎉

These adorable little ones are now settling into their new space, making new friends, and meeting potential adopters. Moving to the café is always an exciting milestone because it means they’re one step closer to finding the loving families they deserve.

Meet Jentle. Some cats come into rescue with stories we'll never fully know, but every now and then you meet one whose past leaves clues behind.

Jentle came to me after being found by one of my board members, Becky. She had a wound on her side, likely the result of a bite from wildlife or another cat. Despite her injury, she was incredibly sweet from the moment she was found.

In fact, she was so affectionate that I have a hard time believing she was born and raised completely outdoors without human love. My suspicion is that Jentle may have been abandoned after she began looking pregnant.

The heartbreaking reality? She wasn't pregnant at all.

Jentle was suffering from pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with pus. Without emergency veterinary care, pyometra can quickly lead to sepsis, organ failure, and death. It is one of the many reasons why spaying cats is so important—not only to prevent unwanted litters, but to prevent serious medical emergencies like this one.

Thankfully, Becky recognized that Jentle needed help and brought her to me before it was too late. 🤎

Since arriving, Jentle has tested parasite-free, received all of her veterinary care, and is recovering beautifully. My daughter, Oshy, has completely fallen in love with her and has taken on the responsibility of helping with her wound care every step of the way. Jentle absolutely adores the attention and has been soaking up every bit of love she can get.

The best part? Her veterinary bill was paid in full by Becky, the very person who rescued her. 🐾

Now I'd love to pay that kindness forward.

While Jentle's care has been covered, rescue never stops. Every week I take in cats and kittens that need medical treatment, vaccines, microchips, spay/neuter surgeries, diagnostics, medications, and emergency care long before they are ever adopted. Often those expenses come months before adoption fees help offset even a small portion of the costs.

Every dollar donated helps me continue providing lifesaving veterinary care, getting cats off the streets, preventing suffering, and reducing the overpopulation of community cats in Deltona through full-circle TNR efforts.

Because rescue isn't just about saving one cat.
It's about creating a future where fewer cats need saving in the first place.
