Next up is "Fanfare for Tomorrow" by Haley Woodrow. Haley approached me about writing a piece for this ensemble during the pandemic lock down. At that point, the possibility of meeting again in person seemed so far away - who knew when in person rehearsals could start again? So I think Haley choose a very fitting title, in that it represents the hope that no matter how dark things seem at the moment, there will something to celebrate tomorrow.
Thank you for writing this piece and working with us in masterclasses to prepare it! I enjoyed working on it and I know the students did too. And to the student musicians in this ensemble, thank you for your hard work and practice preparing this piece. I know it was a lot to come right off of the covid pause and jump into three major conference performances, but I'm so proud of what you accomplished. Thank you again!

Finally getting some of the videos from last school year posted.
First up, a HUGE thank you first of all to the students who are performing here. I can't thank you enough for you dedication and hard work to put together this amazing program! Well done to you all!
I'll be starting off with the IWBC videos beginning with "The New Daughters of Texas". This piece was written by Dr. Paul David Thomas and is based on the themes in Sousa's march, Daughters of Texas. Sousa's march was originally written for the students of TWU in 1928 and is used as a send off for every graduation ceremony to this day. I could think of no better way to close our program honoring women pioneers than with this piece, so I was so excited and grateful when Dr. Thomas jumped at my crazy idea for this piece. Thank you again, Paul! This piece was a lot of fun to work on.
