With Statewide Prop 1 passing this week, the homestead exemption goes from $15,000 to $25,000, which saves the "average homeowner" around $150 on their property taxes. It also avoids the possibility of a sales tax or "transfer tax" on future residential home sales! I think it is a win-win for the individual homeowner in Texas! I'm so glad I'm here.
