Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is the setting of one of my earliest memories. I was a 3 year old, proudly displaying my newly acquired dance skills while acting out animals I’d learned to represent in a creative dance class.

Another memory I have is of attending the company’s signature holiday performance, Granny Dances to a Holiday Drum, with my glamorous Aunt Diane. Years later, I recited a poem by Langston Hughes from the stage of the Shorter AME Church, as part of the youth branch of the Denver .

I’ve attended recitals, productions, Kwanzaa events and more at the location that, for many Denverites, is a community cornerstone.

That’s why today’s behind-the-scenes tour of CPRD’s beautiful new expansion was so special. The organization’s transformation is a testament to the importance of civic engagement and community involvement, especially when it comes to creating spaces that foster belonging.

If you haven’t already seen the space, what better time than CPRD’s Spring Show?! Learn more at cleoparkerdance.org
