GOFUNDME UPDATE:
Many of you donated to Preston's original GoFundMe earlier this month, and your donations were refunded last week. I want to explain what happened and where things stand.
The original campaign was removed by GoFundMe because of how it was worded. Their platform does not allow fundraising tied to legal defense in certain types of cases, and several of my posts crossed that line. That is on me. Every dollar that had been donated was refunded to the original card, and most of you should have seen the funds back within the week.
I have relaunched the GoFundMe today, focused on what it can rightfully cover: the rent that fell behind during the four days Preston spent in jail, the bills that piled up across a week of lost wages, repaying the friends who covered his bond, and basic living expenses while our family works through this. That is a real and urgent need, and it is what your donations will go to.
If you gave before, I am asking you to give again. I know that is a hard ask, and I do not take it lightly. Your first donation was returned through no fault of yours or mine, and the need on our end is exactly what it was two weeks ago. If you can, please come back. If you cannot, a share still moves us forward.
