Hope this helps a bit! It’s a weird balance of needing some stuff but also not nearly as much as it might seem or you’re made to feel.

Breast pumps are often one of the most overwhelming baby purchases you’ll make.

Manual pump. Double electric. Hospital grade. Portable. Wearable.

What do all of those actually mean? And which one do you really need?

In this week’s podcast episode on Lo & Behold | Pregnancy, Birth & Motherhood Podcast , I’m breaking down the different types of breast pumps, who they work best for, and how to choose a pump that fits YOUR feeding goals.

Because the most expensive pump is def not always the best one.

I understand the advice…but I’m not here for anyone telling you what NOT to do. That’s not advice. That’s basically demanding.

Is that any better than someone telling you HOW to birth - which everyone is saying “don’t do that to us anymore?”

I know, you probably know that pushing on your back is not the most anatomical or physiological best position. I get that - it can increase your risk of tearing, it doesn’t allow your sacrum to move, it doesn’t utilize gravity - there’s lots of things you SHOULD know about it and know that you do NOT have to push a baby out like that and can ask for something different, try something different, want something different.

BUT - I do not like any birth professional telling you what to do. That’s not the job. The job is to educate you, prepare you to confidently advocate for yourself, and then say “you choose what feels best to you.”

Because you know what? Some people feel best or strongest on their back. That’s where they WANT to be or decide they want to be. And if it’s what YOU have decided with your education and prep and what you are feeling?

Then that is where you should be - where YOU choose.

There is not one GOOD way to have your baby and there is not one BAD way to have your baby. There are all of these options - and you should get to learn them and know them - and then YOU get to decide when you have your baby, without judgment, bias, slants.

Make sense?

Ok so what do you think? If you want it, should everyone just let ya? Or is the job to help you best utilize your tools at the right time?!?
