✨GUEST POST: Reels Tips✨Hi! I’m Debra and I run my golden retriever, Skylar’s account .the.limit. To me, Skylar’s account 1) is a fun way to bring joy to others lives, 2) is a way to not “spam” my personal insta account with Skylar content and 3) has also become a side hustle.

✳️ In the summer, I decided to commit to growing Skylar’s account and therefore, up my reel game! My most viral reel has 5.7 million views and I had less than 10k followers when I posted it. Since then I’ve had a few others hit the millions and plenty of others with hundreds of thousands.

➡️ Now, if you look at my page you may see that I have reels with under 10k views and wonder who I am to be sharing my tips on reels.

🟣 But, I think that’s just it. One of the most important things you can do to grow your account is post reels consistently and not let your low performance reels discourage you.

🔹At the end of the day, you need to create good content to grow, but even if you do, there is still a lot of luck involved, so the more you post, the better chance you have of going viral! Here are my biggest tips on reels:

1️⃣ Post reels consistently — I try 6 days a week.

2️⃣ Don’t get discouraged if a reel does not perform well initially! Reels can go viral weeks after posting. I’ve had reels that did not have a ton of views at first and then literally weeks later, go viral.

3️⃣ Use trending audio unless you have an audio in mind that you think is a perfect match for your reel.

4️⃣ Come up with an original spin on a trend. A great example of that is the trend to the audio “I’m broke but I’m happy”. I created a reel a couple weeks ago that shows my leggings covered in fur and the reel says, “Getting a golden be like: I’m *hairy* but I’m happy”. It now has close to 500k views, hundreds of likes, and thousands of shares and saves.

5️⃣ Get a conversation going! Using the example above, so many people deal with shedding and can relate to being covered in fur — so people started talking in the comments and sharing the reel with friends and THAT is how you go viral and grow!
