Congratulations Sylvia!
We are thrilled that Sylvia Young, President and CEO of HCA Healthcare's Continental Division, which includes HealthONE in Denver and Wesley Healthcare in Wichita, has been named by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of their 2022 Top Women Leaders in Healthcare. The recognition honors female healthcare executives who are advancing care delivery, community health and gender equity at organizations across the country. The annual program recognizes leaders from all sectors of the industry, spotlighting their professional accomplishments and contributions to their organizations.
“The 2022 Class of Top Women Leaders in Healthcare embodies the progress and influence executives make when they’re not afraid to take risks, even during a global crisis,” said Aurora Aguilar, editor for Modern Healthcare. “The women honored prove that strong strategies and empowering their staff to think big can bring significant results for the healthcare organizations they lead and their patients.”
Congratulations, Sylvia, on being recognized nationally for your leadership and accomplishments!

Each year, the faculty nominate a student in their first year of the program to be the recipient of the James D. Suver 1st Year Student Award. This year the honor goes to Terrence Walker!
In his first year, Terrence has shown leadership and initiative by being an active contributor to student life in the program. Appointed Secretary of the Health Administration Student Organization for the 2019-2020 academic year, Terrence led several meaningful events and activities. These included a food drive for Project Angel Heart, a volunteering event with the Denver Rescue Mission, and a Diversity in Healthcare Symposium which was attended by over 100 members of the business community. Terrence also moderated the symposium, which featured a speaker panel of accomplished executive leaders in the industry.
The James D. Suver Award was established by the former Director and faculty member of the Health Administration Programs. After his passing, the award has continued to be generously supported by Annie Laurie Shroyer, PhD, an esteemed alumna of the campus program and prior student of Dr. Suver's.
