This is taking over to share a peak at my contribution to Small Talk, Misfits & Majesty. The ongoing project features themes of mental health, boyhood, relationships, and growth while in the mountains.
For the past year, the pattern community has been collaborating on a box set of projects called Small Talk. Unable to meet in person during the pandemic, we had no one with whom to discuss our lives, obsessions and discoveries. So we made “small talk” through the creations of zines and booklets, a tangible yet physically distanced way to say something to each other.

Tree and Soil by photography duo Antoinette De Jong and Robert Knoth explores the deserted landscapes and closed-off areas of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. Combined with historical material from the collection of naturalist Philipp Franz von Siebold, and scientific reports, the book illustrates how Japanese culture is deeply rooted in and inspired by nature, and how our planet has been profoundly changed by human activity. Many gatefolds and a dust jacket that opens to a large double-sided post of sorts makes one feel like they are there, exploring the haunting landscapes themselves.
