Cigna Healthcare® announced yesterday that it will no longer offer health insurance plans for the individual market (on or off the Affordable Care Act marketplaces) effective for Plan Year 2027. All medical plans and policies for Plan Year 2026 remain in place with no changes to coverage, premiums, or provider networks through December 31, 2026.
What’s Changing
• Starting with Plan Year 2027, Cigna medical plans will not be offered through state-based marketplaces, including Connect for Health Colorado.
• Impacted Cigna customers will be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
What’s Not Changing
• There are no changes to coverage or networks for Plan Year 2026.
• All Cigna medical plans for Plan Year 2026 remain in place through December 31, 2026.
• Connect for Health Colorado continues to offer a wide variety of plans for individuals seeking health coverage.
Clients know that we have a long history and experience in the health care industry in Colorado, so take note that these types of changes rarely go as smoothly as promised. Please reach out to us if you have ANY difficulties with Cigna Health Plans with regard to premium payments, claims, network participation of providers, or policy cancellations. We are here to help.

A new federal law updated the rules for lawfully present immigrants. Now, only certain groups, called “eligible aliens,” can qualify for financial assistance like Premium Tax Credits, Colorado Premium Assistance, and Cost-Sharing Reductions. These groups include only lawful permanent residents (green card
holders), Cuban or Haitian entrants, and COFA migrants (citizens of Micronesia, Palau, or the Marshall Islands that are allowed to live and work in the United States under the Compacts of Free Association).
All other lawfully present immigrants are still eligible to purchase regular-price health coverage through Connect for Health Colorado, but they will not qualify for financial help anymore. As a result, customers may feel confused or frustrated, especially if their situation has not changed but their eligibility has.
As with all the many changes occuring in the ACA Marketplaces, the best place to get assistance navigating them are members of the assistance network like Center for African American Health.
