Reiki is not massage or physical therapy. It has been used by nurses in hospitals to give comfort and healing to patients. it was called Healing Touch, or Therapeutic Touch. Reiki healing is very old. It uses energy (chi or ki), the essential life force that animates our bodies, to heal and nurture. It has also been called the "laying on of hands." That life force is transmitted through the hands of the Reiki practitioner, and is felt as warmth and energy by the recipient. Animals as well as humans respond to it. It heals the recipient and the practitioner.
