John West, also affectionately known as Uncle John or Mr. West, was an Autistic content creator who made content about navigating life with autism. His death comes as a shock to us all. Wes, John's sister, gained custody of him in 2024 after receiving horrible care from his previous living situation. In the 2 and half years since living with his sister, West's life thrived as she documented his journey and helped him become a better man.
While it's gotten better in recent years, Autism is still widely misunderstood with a lot of people thinking you either need to be a savant or be severely physically disabled to have autism. Whether it was him posting a video of himself working out or him eating a cupcake, Uncle John was a shining example of how autistic people can be beautiful by simply being themselves.
Rest in Peace to a kind and beautiful soul.
