Foreclosure can happen faster than people realize — especially when life takes an unexpected turn.
That was the case for a Denver mother of five who agreed to share her story anonymously. After experiencing domestic violence and the loss of her brother, she fell behind on her mortgage and faced the possibility of losing her home.
After connecting with Brothers Redevelopment, she received support through Denver’s Foreclosure Financial Assistance Program — a resource we administer — helping stop the foreclosure process and keep her family housed.
Last year, Denver saw 677 foreclosure starts. Programs like this help ensure people facing difficult circumstances have a path forward.
