Here is my fun new painting, A Silly Conversation (Ein albernes Gespräch), acrylic on canvas, 36 x 36”.
This painting has been on a journey. At one point it was blindingly bright—like “I need sunglasses indoors” bright. Then it went full goth and got so dark it could’ve written poetry in a basement. And after all that drama, it still felt way too complicated.
So I did what any sensible artist would do: I painted over almost everything in white and told half the shapes to pack their bags and leave. What stayed behind turned into this soft, neutral world… with a single blast of hot pink that absolutely refuses to behave.
The characters in this thing look like silly little aliens having the world’s weirdest chat. And honestly? I’m here for it. I always tell my students I love two kinds of art: the stuff that shocks me, and the stuff that makes me laugh. This one leans hard into the laugh.
I hope it gives you a smile, too.
And yes—it’s for sale, because artists need to eat during the holidays just like everyone else. Support your local artist! Art is the one gift that literally goes up in value (unlike that sweater from Aunt Beula).
Message me if you’re interested, or if you just want to tell me what these aliens are gossiping about.
