The Iowa Housing Partnership had a strong and productive presence at our annual Housing Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, March 31st.

Throughout the day, our advocates elevated critical housing issues, shared on-the-ground insights from communities across Iowa, and reinforced the importance of continued investment in affordable housing solutions. These conversations provided valuable perspective on the current legislative landscape and helped shape our strategy moving forward.

Thank you to Anawim Housing (https://www.anawimhousing.org/) for renewing their membership with the Iowa Housing Partnership. nce 1987, Anawim Housing has been building homes, hope and community. From its start as a vision of Sister Stella Neill, Anawim Housing has become a local leader in affordable housing - working tirelessly to end homelessness and ensure the most vulnerable in our community have a safe place to call home.

Today, Anawim Housing is the largest provider of Permanent Supportive Housing in the state of Iowa. Managing over 536 housing units, Anawim provides stable housing to 380 individuals who have experienced homelessness and live with a mental illness, substance use disorder, physical disability, diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, or are fleeing domestic violence, and 1,200 individuals as a whole we are currently serving.

Thank you to Chariton Valley Planning & Development (http://charitonvalleyplanning.com/) for their new membership into the Iowa Housing Partnership. Designed as an Iowa Council of Governments under the Iowa Code 28H by the Iowa Legislature effective July 1, 2007, Chariton Valley Planning and Development will conduct business for the purpose of enhancing economic prosperity and planned growth in order to improve quality of life in Appanoose, Lucas, Monroe, and Wayne counties in the State of Iowa. Primary activities will serve to stimulate and support: job creation; business investment; attraction and retention of a skilled workforce; quality of life, recreation, and cultural enhancements; provide for infrastructure installation and maintenance.

Programs and activities of the Chariton Valley Planning and Development are sponsored in part by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration. Project partners include the Iowa Department of Economic Development, Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, regional tourism and economic development agencies and local governments from Appanoose, Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe, Wayne and contiguous Iowa counties

Thank to Central Iowa Shelter & Services (https://centraliowashelter.org/). Since 1992, Central Iowa Shelter & Services’ mission is to provide low-barrier shelter, meals and support services at no cost to adults experiencing homelessness and to facilitate their move toward self-sufficiency.

Approximately 2,000 women and men experiencing homelessness have received emergency shelter and supportive services to help them move beyond homelessness each year.

Central Iowa Shelter & Services Central Iowa Shelter & Services is the largest homeless shelter in the state of Iowa. We are a low-barrier shelter and pride ourselves on providing anyone with a warm, safe place to spend the night.

Thank you to the City of West Des Moines for renewing their membership into the Iowa Housing Partnership. Having cities being a part of our group, is critical, not only in finding out opportunities for sites for affordable housing, but to increase the communication in battling NIMBYism.

A big shout out to MVAH Partners, (https://www.mvahpartners.com/) for renewing their membership in the Iowa Housing Partnership.
MVAH began developing affordable housing in 1993. Since then they have developed more than 7,000 affordable housing units ranging across a broad spectrum of housing types: multi-story apartment properties for families and seniors, villas, single-family developments, rehabs, adaptive reuse of existing buildings in large and small communities. MVAH has a singular focus on developing quality affordable housing for those who need it most. This includes over 100 affordable housing properties in 15 states.
