On May 15, 1996, Iowa became the first American state to enter a people-to-people partnership with a region of Ukraine: Cherkasy. Today, citizens in Iowa and Cherkasy celebrate 30 years of this historic collaboration.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration, signed, in separate ceremonies, a renewal of this partnership agreement! We extend our thanks to Cherkasy Regional State Administration leaders, the Department of Regional Development team, and the Ukrainian Embassy for their support and continued collaboration.
The Partner State Program at IEDA, is honored to support this partnership at both economic and cultural levels. This collaboration has brought the partnership to a new chapter, creating continued opportunities for citizens of both regions.
