Project Worldbuilder

Today is the 9th anniversary of my name change! It's hard to believe I've been Zelda for nearly a decade, but it still feels like one of the best decisions I've ever made. There was nothing wrong with my original name, but it never quite fit me right. I went by an unrelated (weird) nickname for all of middle and high school. So at the lowest point of my life, when I was a shell of a person, I chose a new name as a way to give myself permission to live my life as authentically as possible.
No more doing things because society expects me to.
No more trying to fit myself into boxes defined by others.
No more accepting poor treatment, no matter who it came from.
What a gift it is to feel that I've been successful with those goals in these past 9 years. Accepting and loving yourself is a radical act. And it's hard, it takes effort. Like everything else in life, it's not perfect. But it's totally worth it!
I live my truth. I love my own company. And I don't apologize for it.
