Hey hey mamas AND aunties! I’m here with your weekly hump day design tips post (I’m open to more creative names btw)
This week we’re looking at color mistakes. There are quite a few but I’m sharing three this week and more next week.
I have a love hate relationship with color. I love ALLLL the colors but I have a hard time committing to them in a semi permanent application. That’s not the case with websites —it’s super easy to change colors and easy to go overboard.
It’s important to reel it in to make sure your site it’s user friendly and accessible for ALL users including those with disabilities.
Here’s the mistake rundown
✅1. Using too many colors
✅2. Poor color contrast (use contrast checker tools like colourcontrast.cc)
✅3. Using all the same color

Your 🐪 day feed just got a little bit bright (I hope)
As promised, this week I’m sharing the first of a 2 part series covering the essential elements of a unique brand.
All magnetic brands share these 3 things in common
✔️Vision (long range huge impact)
✔️Action (steps to go from idea to sharing the thing with the world)
✔️Story (combining the vision and action in an engaging relatable way
Surprise surprise. Not really. These are the hidden motivators that ooze out in customer service and marketing campaigns that make people stay or leave.
If you have this part of your brand down then you’re half way there. Next week I’ll share the second half.
Turn on notifications so you know when I post part 2!

It’s Friday nite mamas! How ya doin? Are you still feelin yourself (insert Beyoncé lyrics) after having kids?
I know for me personally my body changed so much plus all the sleep deprivation and just being busy (especially mentally) I end up too exhausted to even feel remotely sexy.
On the plus side, over the last year I lost 30 lbs which had me feeling really good when I looked in the mirror (I put my swim suits on this summmmer) but I still don’t feel like I’m channeling my inner Eartha Kitt just yet😂
I suppose it takes time to bring sexy back. How has it been for you: Has having kids amped up your inner fire or turned it down? If you’re brave share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s chat mamas
Shoutout to my sister for my lovely socks ❤️

How it started VS How it's going! 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵!
I usually have a hard time seeing what I've accomplished but this comparison shows me just how much I've leveled up my design game over the last 6 years.
In 2018, while on maternity leave I first stuck my big toe in the UX (user experience) design waters. I had no idea what I was doing or what tools I needed. But I took a free course then went on to do (terrible work) just excited about these new possibilities. From that point on I became extremely serious about the design craft taking more classes, courses, reading books, studying other designers, and most important, practicing. This has all been pretty much on my own while fighting imposter syndrome.
This landing page took about 2.5 hours to design from the initial concept including (naming, research, creative direction, defining requirements, information architecture, sketching, wireframing, asset sourcing, and design), development would be another few hours.
So here I am sharing the skills I've worked so hard to build up with the world able to recognize my worth. There's still plenty more for me to learn but I'm proud of myself (pats self on back)!
Lesson: Celebrate your growth and dedication to your craft. 💕
