As poor air quality continues to affect Wayne County, Chair Alisha Bell encourages residents to take precautions, especially children, older adults, and those with respiratory or heart conditions.

“Protecting the health of our residents is our priority,” said Chair Bell. “We encourage everyone to limit outdoor activity when air quality is poor, stay informed, and take advantage of available face masks to help reduce exposure.”

Residents are encouraged to monitor local air quality updates, keep windows closed when possible, and wear a properly fitted N95 or KN95 mask outdoors during unhealthy air quality conditions. Information on face mask distribution locations will be shared through Wayne County’s official channels.

The Wayne County Public Transit Millage will be on the August 4, 2026 ballot for Wayne County voters to decide. The millage is a proposed property tax to fund public transit services, including operations, maintenance, and service expansion for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and the general public.
