This Ash Hardwood is “rescued” from the firewood rack or rot when the dead trees finally fall to the ground. The limb wood provides plenty of firewood. It seems a shame to do the same with the larger logs so we cut them into slabs for projects.

The Ash were killed by the Emerald Ash Borer years ago (along with 20 million other Michigan Ash trees). Shown are the galleries made under the bark by the EAB larva. This interrupts the flow of nutrients, girdles the tree, and kills it. The dead trees are felled in my woods, drug out, and cut for your projects or mine. Each piece is unique and hand cut (with a chainsaw!). Ash is best known as a source of baseball bats but it is popular with wood workers and takes stain beautifully. The slabs are rough cut and dry (not by kiln). Thanks for looking
