Congratulations to Academy violinist Joel Kim on winning 1st Place in the MTAC VOCE Senior Strings Division!

MTAC (Music Teachers’ Association of California) VOCE is a prestigious statewide competition for vocal, instrumental, and chamber music students. After advancing through a rigorous regional selection process, Joel earned his place at the State Finals — where top regional winners across California compete for the highest honors.

As a State Finals winner, Joel will perform at the Annual MTAC Convention Winners Recital this June, showcasing his talent on a statewide stage.

Congratulations to Academy oboist Stephanie Zhou for being selected to join the prestigious NYO2! NYO2 is a free orchestra program that comes together each summer alongside the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) for intensive training and performance opportunities. This summer’s program begins with a two-week residency culminating in a Carnegie Hall performance in July. Following the performance, NYO2 will travel to the Dominican Republic for a five-day residency featuring two concerts and peer exchange activities with local young musicians.
