As part of Nexstarās Founderās Day of Caring, I spent the morning volunteering with Sporting Brookside at its youth camp in Prairie Village. Having played soccer my entire life and coached youth soccer in college, it was especially rewarding to get back on the field and support young athletes.
With the FIFA World Cup now underway in Kansas City, it felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the game while giving back to the community.
Grateful for organizations like Sporting Brookside and for a company that encourages community service.

One week down at FOX4 News Kansas City and itās already been one Iāll never forget!
Over the past seven days, Iāve anchored my first four newscasts at FOX4, joined my first WDAF+ conversation to introduce myself to viewers, reported live from the ice ahead of Game 1 of the Kelly Cup Finals (yes, on skates!), produced my first FOX4 package on the Kansas City Unity Cup, covered Price Chopper/Sporting KCās āKickoff to the Cupā event, attended the Kansas GOP gubernatorial debate, and even had the opportunity to meet Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas!
One day Iām telling stories about cultures from across the metro coming together through soccer. The next, Iām interviewing a hockey coach live on the ice before a finals matchup. Thatās what I love about this job!!
Iām grateful for the warm welcome from the FOX4 team and the Kansas City community. Hereās a look at some of the moments from my first week, very excited for whatās ahead!!
The road to the World Cup starts long before kickoff!!ā½ļø
I covered the Kansas City Unity Cup in Olathe this weekend, where 13 teams representing different cultures came together to celebrate soccer and community.
