Racial Equity Consortium

All children born on U.S. soil are automatically citizens, regardless of their parents' immigration or visa status. The Racial Equity Consortium applauds today’s Supreme Court decision to rightfully uphold birthright citizenship under the Constitution.

Governor Matt Meyer proclaimed June as Gun Violence Awareness Month and reaffirmed Delaware's commitment to reducing violence, supporting victims, and building safer communities through prevention, intervention, and partnership. During the event, Governor Meyer also granted pardons to Cammerin Norwood and Kaligah Parker, two Delawareans who he commended for turning their "past into purpose" by "preventing violence, disrupting cycles of violence, and mentoring our youth." 

"Gun violence is preventable,” said Governor Meyer. “Public safety is our most important responsibility. Every Delawarean deserves to feel safe in every neighborhood of our state." Through the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety, which the Governor established in the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Delaware is investing in community-based violence intervention programs, youth engagement initiatives, trauma-informed services, and partnerships with law enforcement and local groups to reduce violence and improve public safety.
