Something that does well in an extended drought: pomegranates. While most things in our gardens have been challenged with the lack of rain this year, the pomegranates have been unbothered.
A bonus that they were also unaffected by the late freeze in April, which took out most of our other fruit for the year. Unaffected because they had not yet come out of dormancy when that freeze occurred.
The lesson being that there is wisdom in diversifying. Something will make it, no matter what the conditions turn out to be.
A quick update on my recovery - I am finally feeling like myself, other than some lingering sound sensitivity and not being quite up to full strength yet. The sound sensitivity has been really difficult for the brain to figure out. It can still be very confusing and disorienting sometimes.. otherwise, I mostly feel like myself. One-on-one interactions are fine.. the brain gets confused with overlapping sounds, though. It's still not sure how to filter sounds to the background, so overlapping sounds are basically coming at me all at once, hence the confusion. It's been eight months. So much progress since last December. I am very thankful.. and hopeful that the brain will figure out the rest before the year is up 💚
