Goodbye from Mill Eats!!!
Where to start? Over the last three years Gretchen and I have made great progress with Mill Eats. Saturday we sold a record 62 bagels. Things are promising.
Last week we were informed that Gretchen, my wife and business partner, has cancer. Although we have no reason to be pessimistic, we are preparing for battle.
The simple fact is that we work 12 hours per day, 6 and 7 days per week, and though we are having a lot of fun, we only break even. I cannot justify spending that much time away from home, especially when all of our money goes back into the business.
Monday, August 10th, will be our last day of business. We sure are going to miss all of our very loyal customers. I will likely return to cabinet building, and Gretchen will continue to run her business from home. We love you guys, and can be reached at [email protected].

Funny... twice this week I've been told that "Naked Cakes" are all the rage right now. When described, they sound an awful lot like the contemporary cakes I have been making for more than two years! Here's one that went out yesterday: Double Layered Devil's Food with White Buttercream and Candied Orange Ganache.
