Check washing and mail theft continue to impact families right here in our community, with victims losing thousands of dollars. In June alone, the Duluth Police Department investigated seven cases totaling more than $100,000 in reported losses. The thieves alter stolen checks and cash them using fraudulent identification, making these crimes difficult to investigate.
Before you drop your next payment in the mail, consider safer alternatives:
✔️ Pay online through a secure payment portal.
✔️ Use your bank's online bill pay service.
✔️ If you must send a check by mail, monitor your bank account regularly and report any suspicious activity immediately.

We had a great time celebrating with everyone in Downtown Duluth last Friday, July 3! 🇺🇸
The City of Duluth hosted a fun event to celebrate America's 250th year, and we loved getting the chance to meet so many of you. Our officers enjoyed talking with families, answering questions, and handing out lots of badge stickers to the kids. 👮

🤝 Celebrating Community Together 🤝
Last week, Chief Carruth and Major Alexander attended the Ismaili Council’s America’s 250th Anniversary celebration. The Ismaili Jamakthana- Duluth hosted an afternoon dedicated to honoring elected officials, first responders, faith leaders, civic partners, and neighbors.
It was a fantastic afternoon filled with meaningful conversations, insightful guest speakers (including our own Duluth Mayor Greg Whitlock) and reflections on what makes our community truly unique.
