Dear past present and future Deeps coffee quaffers,
I had planned to let you know by now that I was going to miss some of the 2021 market season so I could be with my mother during what turned out to be her waning days. My beautiful mom and BFF slipped away in late May.

By now most of the work of disassembling the trappings of a long life well lived is finished and I find I can hardly recognize my comparative leisure.

Of relevance to you: I like the relaxed pace of roasting to order instead of trying to make a presentable showing of abundant and diverse coffees for every Wed and Sat market. The brave choice for me now is not to keep going with that, instead it‘s to pause and rediscover some of the things I love but have been too busy to do the last 15 years. You have all been so generous and inspiring with your tales of adventure and creation. Did you ever notice how I soaked them up from the other side of the counter? Not surprising I would eventually want to make some fresh memories of my own - doing more dog agility, watching my grandies play music and sports, paddling a boat, visiting friends in OR, various homely pursuits.

I’m still passionate about coffee. It continues to be what I look forward to most about tomorrow. I will continue to roast all the coffee you want. I haven’t stopped buying coffees that sound intriguing and without recurring market deadlines I can usually roast your coffee the day you call me, and make pickup easy or deliver it on my bike - as much or as little as you like. You can share my name and number with your friends. Thanks to you, I am still growing my list of devotees! Don’t be shy; II meant it when I said you could get my coffee all year ‘round. Continued thanks to all of you who've left your coffee comfort zones and tried my coffee! Before I update my entire list of current farmers market and offerings for shipment, I want to tell you about 2 new coffees I'm adding in August: a Kenya AA, Kiangoi with descriptors I found irresistible, didn't even roast and taste first: raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, aromatic cedar, carmelized balsamic. Can't wait...
And...I'm getting 132 lbs of a Gayo Mt Sumatra that I tasted this am. Without being dark roasted, it has the signature rich depth I've been missing in other coffees from the Pacific/Indonesia: "sweet and herbaceous, ripe green pepper and grapefruit flavors (these escape me; truly, there's something of the Emperor's New Clothes in all this!!!!) and heavy, juicy mouthfeel"...these attributes I get! Stay tuned for the aforementioned updated list. Hope to see you soon.
