The current wildfires devastating our region reminded us of a similar situation 108 years ago, the 1918 fires of Moose Lake/Hinkley.

The Armory was a refuge for the entire region- the place where people came for shelter, food, clothing, and medical care. The Red Cross was on hand to help with not only the fires, but also the Spanish Flu (note the masks!)

We wish we could take everyone in for respite from the smoke and heat this time too! We really look forward to opening to the public and serving our community again.
