New in 2023! LAST RUNNER STARTING! A format unique to Minnesota but patterned after the oldest trail running race in the United States - The Dipsea Race! The Dipsea was first run in 1905 in the Marin Headlands of California. The Dipsea is an age-graded race with staggered starts based on age. This format levels the playing field allowing the potential for literally anyone to win. When you register, you'll be given a start time and must start the race at your designated time. The LAST RUNNER STARTING will utilize The Dipsea headstarts chart. The very youngest and oldest runners will start at 9:00 a.m. and have a 25 minute head start over the "scratch" runners. Each group will then start every minute until we reach the "scratch" runners who will have to pass the entire field if they hope to win! The LAST RUNNER STARTING course will be TWO LAPS of of the scenic and challenging 4.2 mile loop that the LAST RUNNER STANDING runners follow for a total of 8.2 miles. Come see if the LAST RUNNERS STARTING can win!

Also NEW in 2023 is the one lap LAST RUNNER LEAVING! This is simply a ONE LAP race of the 4.2 mile LAST RUNNER STANDING course. We hope our race day can be more inclusive for more runners. Last Runner Standing Register Now!

New date for Last Runner Standing is one week later - June 10, 2023. We had to move back a week due to an important family commitment. The date may move back to the first Saturday of June in 2024. Our event has been the first Saturday of June from the beginning.
