Yesterday, three wildland firefighters lost their lives protecting our communities along the Colorado/Utah border. Two more were injured in the line of duty.
As a company rooted in Southwest Colorado, we’re reminded that community isn’t just something we build, it’s something we protect, support, and stand behind.
To the families, friends, and fellow firefighters grieving this unimaginable loss, our hearts are with you.
We’re grateful for every firefighter, first responder, and support crew who willingly put themselves in harm’s way to protect people they don’t even know in our communities. That kind of service deserves our deepest respect.
Today, we join our community in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Please keep their loved ones and everyone still on the fireline in your thoughts.
The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.
Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.
The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.
Imagine explaining this to someone 100 years ago.
"Yeah, we build the wall standing up before the house exists."
They'd think we're crazy.

A few months into working out of our new shop, it is finally starting to feel like home.
We moved in to our new shop in February, and like most big steps in a small business, it has taken time to settle in, organize, adjust, and figure out how to make the space work for us.
Getting this new sign from Terry Spriggs www.mountaingraphicsco.com made it feel a little more real.
And more than anything, this shop represents what we are building toward.
More space means better material organization, more efficient production, and the ability to buy more in bulk. Those things help us keep working toward our mission of reducing the cost to build and making home more attainable in our area.
It is also giving us room to work on a few new things we are excited about, but more on that when the time is right.
Grateful for this next chapter and for the people helping us build it.
