An emergency physician writing in EM News describes why standard resuscitation tools — IV pumps, pressure bags, gravity — fail when minutes matter in the care of critically ill patients. His conclusion: for patients in shock, the tools we've accepted as "good enough” don’t actually work well. Thanks to the teamwork in this ED and the use of LifeFlow, four units of blood were delivered quickly, stabilizing a 28-week pregnant patient and preventing a stat C-section. A powerful reminder of how rapid transfusion can change outcomes for both mothers and babies.
