Every December 11th, porteños and tangueros around the word celebrate El Día Nacional del Tango in honor to Carlos Gardel (singer, composer) and Julio De Caro (violinist, conductor, composer), who were born on December 11th, 1890 and 1899, respectively. They influenced and inspired generations of tango vocalists, lyricists, musicians, and composers. Want to learn more about these and other colossal tango artists? In this captivating book, A Brief History of a Sentiment Called Tango, Eduardo Lazarowski reviews the life and work of these and other tango figures that shaped the evolution of tango music and dance.

Tango friends, here is a great opportunity to attend a show by local musicians. Tango Love Story is a concert directed by Alma Coefman, local flute player. The show tells a love story through instrumental pieces performed by piano and flute, and reciting of tango lyrics and tango poetry. It also incorporates multimedia art, masked performers, and dancing performed by local couples. The musical pieces are mostly from the vast repertoire of Piazzolla so this is an opportunity for you to listen to music that is not played at milongas.
