We designed + built a custom family homestead for our clients wanting to escape from busy city life. The walls, ceiling, and trim throughout this build are finished in reclaimed 150-year-old rough-cut Heart Pine and Oak, sourced from our client's home state of Alabama. Wood with a century and a half of Southern history, brought back to life in a home built to stand just as long.

And those floor-to-ceiling folding glass doors? They don't just let the outside in, they make the land an extension of the room. Every day, the view through that glass is a reminder of where this timber came from, and what it means to build something rooted in a place.

We're proud to share that this year's Design + Build project, SK8 Shades, has been honored with the Community Impact Through Design Award.

Every summer, BuildSense has the privilege of serving as instructors alongside NC State University's School of Architecture, guiding students through a unique experience that takes a project from concept to construction in just eleven weeks.

Congratulations to the students, faculty, community partners, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life. We're honored to be part of a program that continues to inspire the next generation of designers and builders.
