Colonies are building fast during the summer season. So can mite pressure. ☀️🐝

As long as brood is present, Varroa mites continue reproducing within the hive. For hobbyist and sideliner beekeepers, maintaining control during periods of active brood production can help support stronger colonies throughout the honey season and into fall.

Summer hive management is all about timing, consistency, and staying ahead of challenges before they impact colony performance.

Every region looks different this time of year. 🌸🐝

Depending on where you live, your bees may be working:
• Clover
• Blackberry
• Tulip poplar
• Wildflowers
• Soybeans
• Summer ornamentals

An empty Norroa™ pouch is a visible sign of the colony engaging in natural feeding behaviors that help distribute Norroa throughout the hive, thereby exposing mites to the active ingredient.

Eric checks a Norroa™ pouch that was emptied within 24 hours by a strong colony during active season in Asheville.

Colony activity can vary depending on:
• Colony strength
• Nectar flow
• Brood production
• Seasonal conditions

How active are your bees right now?

🐝 Meet Tori!

Tori joined GreenLight Biosciences a little over a year ago and quickly found a home on the Bee Health team. With a lifelong passion for conservation, wildlife, and the environment, GreenLight's mission immediately felt like a natural fit.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Tori now supports Norroa™ through social media, content creation, photography, and community engagement. One of her favorite parts of the role is connecting with beekeepers from across the country and learning about the unique stories, challenges, and successes that make every operation different.

Fun fact: Many of the photos and videos featured on Norroa™ social media are captured by Tori herself while visiting apiaries and events throughout the season. 📸

While she isn't a beekeeper just yet, Tori is currently taking beekeeping classes and hopes to start her first two hives in Eastern North Carolina next year.

When she's not creating content, you can usually find her spending time with family and friends, exploring North Carolina, visiting Disney, celebrating all things Halloween, cheering on NC State football, listening to Taylor Swift, or hanging out with her dog Dory and her two cats.

One of the things Tori loves most about working in Bee Health is helping connect beekeepers with educational resources while sharing the incredible work honey bees do every day.

If you see Tori at a conference, field day, or bee meeting, be sure to stop by and say hello! 👋🐝

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year and one of the busiest times in the hive. ☀️🐝

Across the season, colonies are building brood, collecting forage, and supporting pollination during peak summer activity.

Long days in the field, active apiaries, and strong colony growth are all part of what makes this season so important for beekeepers.

☀️ Happy Summer Solstice from the Norroa team!

From the Bee yard: Some of the best moments in beekeeping happen in the quiet parts of the day. ☀️🐝

Long days in the bee yard.
Busy colonies.
Summer forage.
And thousands of bees hard at work.

This season moves fast, but moments like these are a reminder of why so many people fall in love with beekeeping in the first place. 💛

The bees do the work. 🐝

Once activated, Norroa™ becomes part of the colony's natural brood-feeding process. As nurse bees feed developing larvae, the active ingredient is distributed throughout the hive, helping reach Varroa mites where they reproduce.

This footage was captured during spring buildup in Asheville, NC, when colonies were rapidly expanding. Strategic mite management during this critical period helps support strong colonies through summer and sets the stage for healthier bees heading into fall.

One of the most rewarding parts of beekeeping is watching a thriving colony grow throughout the season. Norroa is designed to fit into normal hive management while reducing labor, minimizing hive disturbance, and helping beekeepers focus on what matters most, their bees.

What’s your favorite part of bee season right now?

Some of the best moments in beekeeping happen quietly. 🐝📸

Nature Photography Day is the perfect excuse to slow down and appreciate the details happening throughout the season, from busy foragers and blooming summer forage to active colonies in the field.

This photo was captured by Tori, a member of the Norroa™ team, during a visit to the apiary.

Beekeeping gives us a front row seat to some incredible moments in nature every day.

June is one of the busiest times in the hive. 🐝☀️

Across the season, colonies are raising brood, collecting forage, supporting pollination, and building strength during peak activity.

This time of year is a reminder of just how important healthy pollinators are to agriculture and ecosystems alike.
