Day 20. Mid-month Recap. Two things I didn’t see coming. Plus a welcome shift.

✅ ENERGY

Mon — high. Tues & Wed — tanked. The last 3 days feel like a rebound.

My focus? Healing has peaks and valleys. It’s all good. Grateful for healing ❤️‍🩹 It’s worth every bit of energy it takes. Trust the journey.

✅ SLEEP

Three nights ago — first night sleeping comfortably on my side again with my right hip. Left hip happened earlier. It’s all good. Every hip tells its own story, in its own time. Listen deeply, respond with compassion. Get there sooner.

Sleep score Wed was 82. Thurs 74. Friday 80. First time in the 80s since before surgery. Sleep debt dropping little by little. Still nearly 9 hours to go. But momentum shifted in the right direction.

✅ HYDRATION

On my worst nights — waking feeling drained, not refreshed — I noticed my mouth and tongue were dry. A hydration flag.

So I changed my morning routine. Electrolyte drink first. Then water. Waited 90 minutes before coffee — as Oura recommends. Monitored to hit 70 oz throughout the day — half my body weight in ounces.

Did that make the difference? I don’t know. But it’s headed in the right direction.

✅ ANOTHER UNEXPECTED DOCTOR VISIT

Intermittent cough that started four days after surgery. Apparently coughs after surgery matter and my care team takes them seriously. Lungs checked. All clear. Still breathing. Obviously. 😊

✅ BIG QUESTION - I’m curious!

When I walk now Scott says I’m gliding rather than clomping along. My gait is smoother. And yet — it actually feels a little off to me. My low back even grumbles every now and again.

But think about it. Six decades of walking with a leg slightly shorter than the other. A foot turned in slightly. A low back that’s felt it for 20 years — slight curve, slight twist, and a bit of arthritis.

Changes like spine alignment take time. This body has been carrying me for six decades. Will two aligned new hips help my low back? Can’t wait to see!
