🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER LIFTED 🚨
Attention residents of the Quemado and Normandy communities:
Maverick County Judge Rolando Jasso has officially lifted the mandatory evacuation order that was previously issued due to the immediate flooding risk affecting these areas.
Residents may now return to their homes when it is safe to do so. Please use caution and good judgment while traveling, as some roadways and areas may still present hazards due to recent flooding.
As you return home, please remember:
* Only travel on roads that are open and safe.
* Never drive through flooded roadways or standing water.
* Remain alert for debris, damaged infrastructure, downed power lines, and other hazards.
* Continue to monitor official weather and emergency updates, as conditions may change.
The lifting of the evacuation order does not eliminate all potential risks. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and take all appropriate precautions to protect themselves and their families.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and resilience throughout this emergency.

WEATHER UPDATE:
The river has crested at 19.7 feet and is now receding. Local response agencies will continue monitoring areas of concern throughout the night.
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the shelter have been demobilized for the evening, and EOC phone lines will be unavailable overnight.
For emergencies, please call 9 1 1.
For your safety, please do not approach flooded areas. Use caution and follow all directions from law enforcement personnel, especially in the Shelby Park area.

🚨 WEATHER UPDATE 🚨
The EOC continues being activated throughout today, June 17, 2026 as we continue monitoring the weather. 🌧️ The river continues to rise. It currently has risen 17ft. And is predicted to rise up to 23ft.
⚠️The EOC is currently monitoring the following areas for water level:
-Quemado area
-Eagle Point
-Bass Subdivision
-Rio Grande Estates.
🚧The current road closures are:
-FM 1908 (water on roadway) closed
-Commercial St.
-Hwy 57/hwy 481 to I35
-Fm 1908 towards Spofford (closed by TxDOT)
-Fm 1591 (closed by TxDOT)
-Days Rd/H L Graham
-Int. Mays/Kelly
-Westbound traffic on hwy 90/Brackettville to Del Rio Closed.
-Both entrances to Shelby Park by Ryan St closed
