Sometimes patient education is missed or dentist agree to do treatments without an accurate diagnosis. These actions led to severe physical and emotional trauma. Educate yourself and practice the golden rule.

It was a hard case to treat, and it’s still not finished. I will probably retouch the crown lengthening before starting restorative phase with restorations from 6-11- Initial inflammation made it impossible to gauge how much recession was going to occur post-surgically, but she’s definitely happier than before. 💢🔆

😃Crown lengthening procedure with a life changing outcome. Any competent dentist can properly diagnose this, nothing too special about it. This case was special, because this patient is a 15 year old introvert who doesn’t like to socialize much, mostly because he said he didn’t feel comfortable smiling. He underwent orthodontic treatment, didn’t practice good oral hygiene, had altered passive eruption, and happened to be taking phenytoin. Like I said before, fixing this issue is relatively simple, gingivectomy, followed by ostectomy following CEJ margins and practicing good oral hygiene, and it’s done. But you know what is hard? Getting insurance companies to cover this type of procedure- they cover crowns, scaling and root planning, endo and even part of ortho. But not this… dental insurance dictating what we can or cannot do is getting real old… Basing coverage on what they think is right or wrong without patient contact, is wrong.
