25 years ago, Nyaka began with a single dream: that no child should grow up without love, support, or a future. 💙
This year, as we celebrate 25 years of walking alongside vulnerable children and grandmothers in Uganda, we were reminded that the most powerful journeys are the ones we take together.
Our CEO, Dr. Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, joined the incredible Annie Segal and the TogetherWeWalk community in Chappaqua, New York — walking in solidarity for a cause that hits close to home.
Ten years ago, a 7-year-old Annie started this walk to support her sister Leora, who lives with epilepsy and constant seizures. Today, that small act of love has grown into a movement. It mirrors our own story: one small step of compassion, multiplied over time, can move mountains.
The Segal Family Foundation has been more than a partner to Nyaka — they've been family. Through financial backing, capacity building, and championing community-led leadership, SFF has helped us grow, sustain, and scale our mission. They believed in us. And that belief has helped us reach 25 years of impact.
As we mark this milestone anniversary, we celebrate not just our journey — but the friendships that have walked every step with us. 🤝
Thank you, Annie, Leora, and the entire Segal family. Here's to 25 years of Nyaka, 10 years of TogetherWeWalk, and a lifetime of walking forward — together.

“True sustainability must originate at the grassroots level, enabling communities to scale their initiatives globally. we cannot expect progress from the top down, it is a natural principle that will continue to guide our work.” Jackson Kaguri
