Michele Russo (1909–2004)
After graduating from Yale with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1934 and marrying fellow artist Sally Haley, in 1947, they moved to Portland. Russo accepted a position at the Museum Art School, now known as Pacific Northwest College of Art. There, he taught art for over 25 years and became an advocate for the arts. He was one of the founders of Artists Equity, a program meant to unite artists and the community. Later on, he founded the Portland Center for the Visual Arts and was the first artist appointed to the Metropolitan Arts Commission in the 1970s.

A perfect last hurrah to summer! Highlights from an early October NY trip. I’m feeling inspired by all the stunning interiors I saw, rested, and connected, which is a luxury amidst the chaos happening in the world right now.
