Mushroom Wisdom

Before Reishi was ever studied in a lab, it was named by people watching the sky.
The traditional Chinese character for Lingzhi, 靈芝, tells you exactly what the ancients saw in this mushroom. Inside the character for "ling," meaning spirit, you find rain falling from heaven, three mouths raised in prayer, and a shaman joining heaven and earth. The second character, "zhi," simply means a special plant or herb.
Put together: the herb of spiritual potency.
Think about what that name reveals. Of all the ways to describe a mushroom, the people who knew Reishi best reached for the language of spirit. Not strength, not longevity alone, but something deeper. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reishi has long been treasured as a tonic for Shen, the spirit, supporting the calm, clear, settled quality of mind that the old texts considered the very heart of health.*
