Weatherization Leadership Development Institute-WAPPro

The National Community Action Partnership is pleased to offer Year 3 of the Weatherization Leadership Development Institute better known as Weatherization Assistance Program Professionals (WAPPro), a proven, cohort-based learning experience designed to support Weatherization subgrantees in identifying, developing, and retaining the next generation of Weatherization Leaders.

Building on the success of prior cohorts, this leadership experience will engage up to 40 participants in a robust curriculum that combines targeted skill-building with collaboration alongside experienced subject matter experts. Participants will strengthen their leadership capacity through coaching, facilitated peer learning group projects, and interactive discussions that support both individual growth and organizational sustainability.

WAPPro curriculum is grounded in the four quadrants of adult learning-foundational leaderships concepts, practical skills development, case study analysis, and learning grounded in real-world experience and collective wisdom-by ensuring participants can immediately apply what they learn within their programs. Designed to empower crew members, crew leaders, intake specialists, and other Weatherization team members, WAPPro prepares participants to step confidently into leadership roles and contribute to long-term program resilience and success.

Cohort Meetings and Participant Commitments
The Weatherization Leadership Development Institute (WAPPro) will convene six times during 2026, primarily through facilitated virtual sessions designed to support peer learning, reflection, and practical application.

Each virtual session will be approximately two hours in length and will include a combination of interactive discussion, leadership exercises, subject matter expert engagement, and peer exchange.

In addition to live sessions, participants should expect ongoing, job-embedded learning activities between meetings. These activities may include, but are not limited to, case study analysis, personal leadership reflection, applied practice assignment, and small-group or peer-led presentations.

While individual time commitments may vary, participants should expect approximately 12 hours of facilitated cohort sessions, along with additional time for peer connection, reflection and applied learning activities integrated into their day to day work.

The Weatherization Leadership Development Institute is more than a leadership training; it is a community built to support and uplift the professionals who power the Weatherization network every day. By creating intentional space for learning, reflection, and meaningful peer connection, WAPPro helps participants grown their leadership confidence, broaden their perspective, and apply new skills in ways that strengthen their teams, their programs, and the communities they serve.
