It's launch day for Historias De La Alondra: Lydia Mendoza Stories Through Artists' Eyes, a digital exhibit exploring the life of Tejano music icon Lydia Mendoza through audio and visual storytelling.

We commissioned eight visual artists from the U.S.-Mexico border region to reimagine narratives from the Mendoza Family Interviews, a collection of oral histories conducted by Chris Strachwitz in the 1970s-80s. The exhibit presents these works alongside archival audio of Lydia’s own voice as she tells the stories that defined her life.
