Trump adds seven countries, including Syria, to full travel ban list

The White House has announced a major expansion of U.S. travel restrictions, signed by President Donald Trump, aimed at strengthening national security and public safety measures.

Under the new proclamation, full entry bans will apply to nationals of several additional countries, including Syria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, Laos, and Sierra Leone, as well as individuals traveling on Palestinian Authority–issued documents. Some of these countries were previously subject only to limited restrictions.

In addition, partial entry limitations have been introduced for citizens of 15 other countries, reflecting concerns related to screening, vetting, and information-sharing processes.

The expanded restrictions are scheduled to take effect on January 1.
