There is so much to celebrate at Redlands Community College over the next two weeks!
Tomorrow, our men’s baseball team will compete in the NJCAA Region 2 Division II Baseball Championship in Enid at the David Allen Memorial Ballpark. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. against NOC Enid. We are incredibly proud of this team and invite everyone to join us in cheering them on as they represent Redlands with pride and determination.
Then on Saturday, May 9, we will gather at the Canadian County Expo Center to celebrate two of the most meaningful events of the year — Nursing Pinning and Commencement. This year, Redlands will award 246 degrees and 76 certificates as we honor the hard work, perseverance, and achievements of our students.
Next week, our women’s golf team will travel to Coal Valley, Illinois to compete in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Golf National Championship! What an incredible accomplishment for these student-athletes and our college.
From academics to athletics, amazing things are happening at Redlands. We are beyond proud of our students, employees, coaches, and supporters who continue to make our college shine both inside and outside the classroom.
Go Cougars!

When I say our employees are the best, I truly mean it. Each year on Beautification Day, they step outside their regular roles to make our campus shine.
We take great pride in creating a welcoming environment for our students, employees, and community, and today was a perfect example of that commitment in action.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this annual tradition. Your effort and pride in Redlands do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Julie Flegal-Smallwood and Kevin Hawk on receiving their 10-year pins as Phi Theta Kappa Advisors!
For a decade, these two have poured into our students, opening doors, creating opportunities, and guiding them toward success.
Because of their leadership, countless Redlands students have benefited from all that PTK has to offer. We are truly fortunate to have them leading our chapter.
And what a year it has been…
From multiple Most Distinguished honors at the regional level to national recognition at Catalyst, including Top 100 Chapter and Continuing Excellence Award, our chapter continues to set the standard. Even more impressive, our students earned prestigious scholarships and statewide honors, representing Redlands at the highest level.
This kind of success doesn’t happen by accident; it happens because of leaders like Julie and Kevin.

Yesterday was a proud day for Redlands Community College at the State Capitol as we celebrated the incredible accomplishments of our students alongside the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges.
Six of our students were recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service, earning honors at both the state and national levels. Of the four national awards presented by Phi Theta Kappa, I was especially proud to have three of those honors awarded to Redlands students! From All-USA Academic Team recognition to New Century Scholars and All-Oklahoma Academic Team honors, their achievements reflect the very best of Redlands. We also had three students receive President Tuition Waivers.
A sincere thank you to Representative Dick Lowe for presenting proclamations to our students, along with appreciation to Chancellor Sean Burrage and OACC Director Cheryl Evans for their continued support of community college students across Oklahoma. We are also grateful to Speaker of the House, Kyle Hilbert for joining us as our guest speaker, as well as the many family members and friends who came to celebrate these achievements.
I am continually inspired by our students’ dedication to their education and their communities. They are not only excelling in the classroom, but they are also making a meaningful impact outside the classroom.
Days like this are a powerful reminder of the important role community colleges play in shaping future leaders. Proud to represent Redlands at the Oklahoma State Capitol and celebrate these outstanding students.
