In September 2025, I applied for the University of New Mexico Graduate and Professional Student Association’s New Mexico Research High Priority Grant for my double master’s thesis research and projects, and I am so elated to share that I was one of five recipients who received the full $5,000 award!

This support allows me to continue building on the research I began on the Tamarind Institute’s transition from Los Angeles, CA, to Albuquerque, NM, as well as the initiatives that propelled Tamarind onto the global stage beginning in the 1980s. Through this work, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing foundational members of Tamarind’s history, including former Director Marjorie Devon and former Master Printers Harry Westlund, Stephen Britko, and Bill Lagattuta, with whom I am pictured at the Tamarind Gallery.

As I plan additional interviews and upcoming research trips, I’m deeply grateful for the GPSA’s investment in my work. Thanks to this grant, I am able to expand my scholarship, preserve vital printmaking histories, and bring this chapter of Tamarind’s story to light in ways I never imagined possible.
