June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, we honor the lives lost to gun violence, support survivors, and work together to build safer communities for everyone.
Gun violence affects individuals, families, and communities across the nation. By promoting awareness, education, safe firearm storage, conflict resolution, and community support, we can help prevent injuries and save lives.

Everyone has a role to play in creating a safer future:
✔️ Practice safe firearm storage
✔️ Talk openly about violence prevention
✔️ Support those impacted by gun violence
✔️ Participate in community awareness efforts

Together, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and help reduce gun violence.

The Emergency Warning Sirens were activated at 7:55 p.m. and was due to a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service. The warning has since expired.

Our final Walk and Talk of the season took place this past Tuesday.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with us throughout the Walk and Talks. We truly appreciated the opportunity to connect with residents and hear about what’s happening in your neighborhoods.

Arrest Made in Vehicular Hijacking Investigation
EPD # 2026-32831


On June 8, 2026, at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard for a report of an armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the adult female victim who reported that an unknown male and female subject approached her as she was sitting in her vehicle, and the male subject displayed a firearm and demanded that she exit her vehicle. Both male and female subjects then proceeded to enter the victim’s vehicle and leave the area. The victim was not injured in this incident.

Information regarding this incident was relayed through the Illinois State Police Emergency Messaging system, notifying all state agencies. A short time later, officers from the Bartlett Police Department located the victim’s vehicle traveling east on U.S. Route 20 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop, and Bartlett officers last observed the vehicle in the vicinity of Illinois Route 390 and Irving Park Road. Later, officers from the Villa Park Police Department located the vehicle in the area of Illinois Route 290 and Route 83, they then attempted to stop the vehicle with assistance from the Illinois State Police.

The vehicle subsequently was stopped at Van Buren Street and Springfield Avenue in Chicago, and the male subject, identified as 37-year-old Anthony Tyson of the 1600 block of Sheffield Drive in Elgin and the female subject identified as 37-year-old Nichole Pino of the 300 block of Washburn Street in Elgin, were taken into custody without incident.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division assisted by detectives from the Illinois State Police investigated this incident and after a review of the facts of the case by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the following charges were authorized:
Mr. Tyson:
• Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class X Felony)
• Armed Violence (Class X Felony)
• Unlawful Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony)
• 2 counts of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding (Class 4 Felony)
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)

Ms. Pino:
• Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony)
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)

Mr. Tyson and Ms. Pino will be transported to the Kane County Justice Center for a Pre-Trial Detention Hearing.
