Tech Tip Tuesday:

3 signs your brake pads and rotors need to be replaced.

1. High-Pitched Squealing or Grinding
Squealing: Most brake pads include a small metal "wear indicator" that emits a high-pitched screech once the pads reach a critically thin level (usually around 3mm or 1/8 inch).
Grinding: If the squealing stops and turns into a harsh metallic grinding, your pads are likely completely gone. This means the metal backing plate is digging directly into the rotor, which causes immediate damage and reduces your stopping power.

2. Vibrations or Pulsing
If you feel a shaking or pulsing sensation through the brake pedal or steering wheel when slowing down, it is a classic sign of warped or uneven rotors. This happens when excessive heat causes the rotor surface to become uneven, preventing the brake pads from making smooth, consistent contact.

3. Reduced Responsiveness (Brake Fade)
If your car takes longer to come to a complete stop or the pedal feels "soft" or "spongy," your braking efficiency is compromised.
