Cast your mind way back to when all around the world, people were able to gather week to week in church buildings.

For many Adventists, a typical Saturday morning involves a mid-morning church service and a shared lunch afterwards (also known as potluck... because you never truly knew what was in your favorite Aunty's dish).

During the service, sometimes someone will say that they invite God's Spirit into the place to join everyone as they worship but little do we all seem to really grasp that it's not God and His angels joining us in worship, but it's us joining them!

You see, the Sabbath is a foretaste of heaven. The word Sabbatismos refers to a state of peace, calm and rest which = heaven itself. As Hebrews 4 leads us to recognize, we’re simply getting a sneak peak (and a glorious one at that) at what eternity is like.

Amy, a believer who is passionate about getting on board with what God’s up to, summarises the Sabbath as “participation.”
