Announcing the first annual Suzanne Dorrance Memorial Youth Scholarship.

Created by the Suzanne Woodard Living Trust, Carmel Valley Trail & Saddle Club, and the Western States Versatility Ranch Horse Association Youth Fund.

This scholarship seeks to honor the life and legacy of Carmel Valley Horsewoman Suzanne Dorrance, who was a devoted member of both WSVRHA and the Trail & Saddle Club and a longtime supporter of youth in equine sports.

Applications are available on our website (wsvrha.org ➡️ Calendar) and will be accepted starting July 1st. The recipient will be announced at the Carmel Valley Ranch Horse Classic on August 9th.

If you or someone you know is a youth who is competing in or is interested in competing in Versatility Ranch horse events, we encourage you to apply.

‼️SCREWWORM UPDATE 06/08/2026 ‼️

As of June 8, 2026, there have now been multiple New World Screwworm detections in Texas, with one being in a county bordering New Mexico. Livestock movement restrictions are in place in Texas and information can be found here: https://www.tahc.texas.gov/



Currently, the US-Mexico border is closed to all livestock exports from the US to Mexico for any reason. This includes all horses. All livestock imports from Mexico to the US are still closed as well. Further, Canada is now restricting all imports of any livestock, including horses, from Texas, and prevents any livestock from entering Canda that have resided in or transited Texas in the previous 21 days prior to importation to Canada.
